Race Roundup: 2026 Spanish Grand Prix (MADRING, Madrid)

Published

on

Andrea Kimi Antonelli took a sensational victory at the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix held at the brand-new MADRING semi-street circuit in Madrid. Starting from 2nd on the grid, the Italian Mercedes driver executed a clinical strategy to outpace the field and cross the finish line 4.351 seconds clear of his nearest rival.

Pole-sitter Lando Norris (McLaren) led early on after setting the benchmark in Q3, but he ultimately lost out in the pit stop window, dropping behind Antonelli and Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing). Verstappen produced a strong drive to take 2nd place, while Norris managed to secure the final spot on the podium in 3rd.

It was a tough day at the Spanish Grand Prix for Lewis Hamilton, who suffered a retirement on lap 27 due to a mechanical issue. Meanwhile, local favourite Carlos Sainz also registered a DNF after a mid-race incident.
